What are 2 of the scariest words in the English language?
According to our U.S. Government health organizations it’s these: RAW MILK.
Raw milk is demonized, feared & forbidden. Why?
If you do a simple Google search the most common information you will find is how bad for you
raw milk is. The FDA & CDC both claim that raw milk is dangerous – especially to children,
pregnant women & the elderly- they will site numbers on illness, refute any & all claims of health
benefits or any positive reasons to consume raw milk. The government has taken a firm stance
on the dangers of raw milk.
Again, I have to ask why?
In today’s world the government will provide you with needles to partake in recreational drug
usage, they will pump your children full of untested & unapproved puberty blockers, they will
even go so far as to remove any body parts your child may not want if they suffer from gender
dysphoria. They will & do approve multiple ingredients in our food known to cause cancer, birth
defects & mental health issues in children. But a completely natural, organic, unadulterated food
that humans have been consuming, literally, since the beginning of time, they have taken a hard
line stance on.
Things that make you go hmmmm…
Raw milk is considered a super food. Straight from the cow (or goat or sheep or camel) without
pasteurization or homogenization raw milk can be consumed whole as a beverage, the cream
can be separated off & consumed as is or churned into butter, milk can be clabbered or soured
or cultured & become yogurt, soft cheese, cream cheese, sour cream & innumerable hard
cheeses- all without the addition of a single chemical. Raw milk is a gift as is & humans having
been benefiting from the life-giving attributes of it for thousands of years. Until the 1950’s.

Pasteurization became law & the interstate sale of raw milk was banned shortly after WW2. At
this time people were just discovering how bacteria & pathogens worked & how important good
hygiene practices were. Many people became ill from a lack of hygiene, no running water, bad
personal habits & yes, bad milk. But just as we didn’t outlaw people for being dirty, we shouldn’t
have outlawed raw milk. What was needed was a better understanding of the importance of
clean equipment, clean hands, clean animals & clean milk. Which we have now. We also know
that many of the scientific “advancements” of the 1950’s weren’t really that great- such as
mental health care, women’s health care, child birth practices, the discouragement of breast
feeding, the promotion of cigarettes and so much more including the demonizing of raw milk.
Raw milk isn’t a dirty little secret anymore. It’s becoming easier to find raw milk for sale from
reputable farms & businesses. If you don’t have the ability to keep & milk your own dairy animal
look for a nearby farm that may sell raw milk. It’s also possible these days to find raw milk in the
larger natural grocery stores. Raw milk health benefits include its ability to reduce allergic
reactions, improve the health of the skin, strengthen the immune system, boost digestive health, promote weight loss and increase bone density, among others. The omega 3 fatty acids &
carotenoids in raw milk can improve the appearance of your skin. The probiotics & digestive
enzymes in raw milk can help you maintain healthy digestion.

Raw milk is packed with key nutrients that are beneficial to the body, including probiotics, raw
fats, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, carotenoids, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, and iron, as well
as omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid, vitamin K, and a number of digestive enzymes.
These beneficial bacteria & enzymes are completely destroyed in the pasteurization process.
Yes, pasteurizing kills off any bad bacteria in milk but it also kills off all the good bacteria,
rendering processed milk essentially devoid of health benefits. The many, many people who
experience issues such as digestive upset, bad skin, “lactose intolerance” etc., don’t necessarily
have struggles with milk- they have struggles with store bought, processed, pasteurized,
homogenized “dead” milk. Many of those same people will have no digestive or other issues
drinking raw milk.

I grew up drinking raw goat milk from our goats that I milked each morning. My children have
grown up drinking both raw goat & raw cow milk. In fact, when I had supply issues while nursing
my youngest, we bought him his own milk goat to supplement with. He had the benefits of
breast milk & fresh, raw goat milk. Our children went back & forth from goat to cow depending
on which animals we had in milk at the time & occasionally when we didn’t have anything in milk
they drank “store milk”. They never experienced any issues or troubles going back & forth
between milk types but they are spoiled & typically will avoid “store milk” (their name for it) at all
costs preferring fresh, raw milk.
I grew up milking goats & acquired my first milk cow almost 20 years ago. We have always
shared our milk with friends & a year ago we started a micro dairy (2 soon to be 3 Jersey cows)
in order to share our delicious, healthy raw milk with more people.
Raw milk is a complete, whole super food which humans have been benefiting from & enjoying
for thousands of years. Don’t let the government scare tactics keep you from this amazing
health food. Ask on your local market place if anyone near you is offering raw milk for sale, you
can check Raw Milk Finder – Real Milk also a great site to find more information on the benefits
of raw milk. If you have a local health food store or natural grocery store they may carry raw milk
or be able to tell you who in your area sells it. If you are curious what the laws are in your state
here is a map showing the legalities of selling raw milk by state.

Remember: Raw milk. It does a body good!
